White, Red or Rose

"Wine improves with age. The older I get, the better I like it." Now that is a quote I can quite easily agree with. It may also be said that as we age our tastes change and with that in mind I have set up this little blog to do some testing. I have got together with a couple of friends to taste some wines and report back our findings. This is how it will work, the three of us all represent different generations and it is with that in mind that we will taste the wines on offer. We have Brad (28) Josh (43) and Greg (63). Now I know what you are thinking they are all male, where is the female point of view. Well this is not meant as a scientific exercise just a bit of fun, so get from it what you can. Let us begin.

Reserve De St Clair (Red)

Country: FRANCE Price: £7.01

Description: This wine comes from the vineyards surrounding the small village of Lussac, situated to the north-east of Saint-Emilion. As with most wines from this area, Réserve Saint-Clair is made predominantly from Merlot with some Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. These three grapes complement each other perfectly to create an expressive, smooth and full-bodied wine with aromas and flavours of ripe red fruits.

Brad(28) This was a good full flavoured wine that tickled the senses
7/10

Josh(43) Nice red pleasing on the pallet with a hint of red currants
6/10

Greg(63) Pleasent earthy taste slight bitter aftertones
5/10

Lindemans Bin 50 Shiraz (Red)

Country: South Eastern Australia Price: £7.15

Description: Another famous Australian brand now sold with a screwcap . Which means you’ll never get a bottle ruined by a bad cork. The screwcap is such an effective closure that this super-ripe, berry-fruited Shiraz would actually benefit from being decanted! Although Lindemans, part of the huge Southcorp wine empire, was originally founded in the Hunter Valley, this Shiraz is a blend of grapes from warmer areas of South East Australia. It has smooth tannins and generous alcohol.

Brad(28) Nice , fresh and fruity taste
7/10
Josh(43) Warm pleasing taste
7/10
Greg(63) A generous wine that gives a lot of taste and a lot of alchohol
8/10

La Terre French White Wine (White)

Country: France Price £4.15

Crisp refreshing white wine from France.

Carefully selected grapes grown on the "Terre" (literally translated land or soil) of France have been carefully fermented at a low temperature. The result is an elegant wine with citrus fruit flavours and a hint of pineapple on the nose.

Josh(43) Interesting flavour at first bitter then sweet
6/10

Greg(63) As whites go this has a rather interesting aroma
